Playa Visa Elementary School

About PVES

Playa Vista Elementary School (PVES) is a demonstration school featuring Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education, and a teacher professional development program in which teaching strategies producing highly STEM-literate students can be cultivated. This is accomplished through an alliance with Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), our exceptional teaching and administrative staff, community partners, and a highly committed parent body.

Collaboratively designed from the ground up, PVES prepares students primed for success in the 21st century. Its connected curriculum and teaching methods are guided by Loyola Marymount University's century of theory and practice, and aligned with the new Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards. The school environment is centered on experiential learning with integrated projects focused on STEM and infused with the arts, environmental consciousness and sustainability. The school will be a model of innovation, research, and practice, and inspire a transformation in public education within LAUSD and nationally.

PVES is located in a state-of-the-art LEED platinum certified facility adjacent to the Ballona Wetlands. It currently serves 450 students predominantly from the Playa Vista community.
